Potato Please shipped on 3 November 2026 and received two hotfixes in its first three days. Both are short, specific and unusually honest about what broke. This page keeps the developer’s meaning and translates the consequences.

Hotfix 1.0.2

Performance: the channel was the culprit

The headline fix is late-game slowdown. Peeled potatoes jamming the water channel caused heavy slowdowns and crashes. Water now keeps potatoes moving more freely, and the last two channel speed levels are slightly faster. If your frame rate collapsed at the end of a run, this is the patch that addresses it.

Saves that keep your work

  • Machine hoppers keep their potatoes when you save and load.
  • The vacuum tank keeps its potatoes.
  • Potatoes in a bucket or wheelbarrow return to the pile on load.
  • The wrong rank no longer shows at the start of a new shift.
  • The storm’s chill and the free flamethrower no longer appear early on new games or pre-storm saves.

Getting stuck

  • Fixed an endless fall loop after a bad reset.
  • Fixed Unstuck leaving you without controls or HUD.
  • Fixed an empty HUD when loading a save after the ending.
  • Fixed pressing Esc during the opening black screen freezing the game.
  • Master Peeler now completes with its reward once the quota is done; stuck saves recover on load.
  • The key potato stays put until you pick it up — the vacuum and the puppy can no longer carry it off.
  • Supply drops land on the ground or snow instead of catching on the crane.

Pile and machines

  • The pile recount starts when you buy the crane: every 6 minutes, or every 2.5 minutes with autopilot.
  • The loudspeaker announces every other recount.
  • The red “hold R” Repile badge was removed; Repile remains in the pause menu.
  • Sacks pour into the middle of the machine hopper instead of tearing where they were caught; a full machine leaves the sack whole.
  • Holding E on a loaded villager crate sends it instead of sacking its potatoes.
  • Snow no longer appears inside the room after the storm.

Settings and text

  • New Accessibility tab with blood colour and colour-blindness filter options.
  • Green, blue and purple blood colours are brighter.
  • Muting the puppy also silences its lost whine.
  • The Muscle Memory description now says the last spots may need peeling by hand.
  • The French T-34 bucket description was rewritten.

Leaderboards

Replaying the ending from a finished save no longer changes your shift time. The global leaderboards were reviewed and invalid times removed. If your run was removed by mistake, the developer asks for a recording.

Hotfix 1.0.1

Ending and saves

  • Finished saves can replay the ending without starting a new shift.
  • A cleared yard stays clear after loading; the snowstorm no longer returns on a finished save.
  • Older saves are backed up automatically before conversion.

Unstuck tools

Unstuck, Wheelbarrow and Sack fixes in the Troubleshooting page now share a 60-second cooldown instead of 5 minutes. The Repile cooldown is also 60 seconds. The pause menu now points to Troubleshooting when you are stuck.

Pile behaviour

Once crane autopilot starts, the pile is restacked every 3 minutes while you are not looking, preventing arches that refuse to collapse. The loudspeaker announces each recount.

Controls and display

  • Fixed characters walking forward on their own, or WASD failing, when a steering wheel, pedals, flight stick or virtual joystick driver was connected.
  • Fixed a duplicated controls list that prevented some rebinds.
  • Invert Y now only affects the camera; peeling, letters and darts follow the mouse normally.
  • Fixed menus cut off on ultrawide displays.
  • Long translations now fit in Objective and upgrade titles.
  • A warning now asks you to verify game files if data fails to load and menus look blank.
  • Corrected the Wheelbarrow and Auto Rotate descriptions.

Balance

  • Separate hand shake intensity setting.
  • Option to mute the puppy (the lost whine still plays).
  • Hard difficulty now uses Strict peeling instead of No Mercy.
  • Potatoes peeled by the puppy no longer count as machine output for quests.
